FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Fraxses and data virtualisation.

Is Fraxses a data warehouse?

No. Fraxses is a metadata-driven data virtualisation platform. It can work alongside a warehouse, but users do not need to move all data into a warehouse before they can begin governing and using it.

What is a Data Object?

A Data Object is a reusable virtual representation of data. It describes a useful business concept and how that concept maps to underlying sources, policies, and delivery patterns.

Does Fraxses copy all source data?

Not by default. Fraxses is built around virtualisation, so data can remain in source systems while being exposed through governed metadata. Some use cases may still choose to cache, materialise, or move selected datasets where that is the right trade-off.

Why use metadata as the foundation?

Metadata makes data understandable and governable. It helps describe source systems, field meaning, ownership, access rules, lineage, and reusable data definitions in a way that can scale across teams.

Who is this documentation for?

This documentation is for Fraxses users, implementers, administrators, and future contributors who need to understand how the platform is structured and how to document it clearly.
