Introduction

Learn what Fraxses is and how it helps teams virtualise governed data access.

Fraxses is a metadata-driven data virtualisation platform. It helps teams connect multiple data sources into one governed environment without forcing every dataset through a warehouse migration first.

What Fraxses Does

Fraxses lets organisations model, govern, and expose data through metadata. Instead of treating each database, API, file store, or operational system as a separate island, Fraxses gives teams a consistent layer where source connections, access rules, reusable definitions, and delivery patterns can be managed together.

That approach is useful when data lives across many systems and moving everything into one warehouse would be slow, expensive, or unnecessary.

Data Objects

Data Objects are reusable virtual representations of data. A Data Object describes how data should be understood and accessed, while the underlying records can remain in the source systems where they already live.

Teams can use Data Objects to standardise business concepts, reduce duplicated extraction logic, and give downstream users a governed interface to trusted data.

Why Virtualisation Matters

Traditional analytics projects often begin by copying data into a central warehouse before anyone can use it. Fraxses supports a different path: connect sources, describe the data with metadata, apply governance, and expose virtualised objects for use.

This means teams can start delivering governed data access while still deciding which datasets should later be materialised, cached, transformed, or moved.

Core Ideas

  • Connect multiple data sources into one governed environment.
  • Define reusable Data Objects as virtual representations of source data.
  • Keep ownership, access, and meaning visible through metadata.
  • Avoid moving all data into a warehouse before teams can begin using it.
type DataObject = {
  name: string;
  source: "postgres" | "api" | "file" | "warehouse";
  governed: true;
  materialized: boolean;
};
